By now, most everybody knows about the African Days with Whitetails Unlimited Program. Your support of this program over the last few years has been phenomenal and we hope it continues long into the future.

We do find that members indicate that they do not really know how the program works, so we launched this dedicated web site, to set out in detail the thinking behind the program and how members should go about making the most of it.

If you have ever considered hunting in Africa, or even just had a thought that you might like to do such a thing, just once in your life, while watching the Outdoor Channel – read the information on this site carefully. You will be surprised to find Africa is VERY doable!

We look forward to entertaining many more Whitetail Unlimited members in Africa.

African Days Group of Companies

Package Description
The package includes three hunting days for two hunters as well as two observers. The hunters each receive $1,000.00 toward the animals they will eventually collect as trophies. On top of that, we have negotiated a ten percent discount for Whitetails Unlimited members who have their taxidermy done by H&H Wildlife Studio in Michigan – a value of, on average, $ 1 000.00. This brings the total value of the package to $ 7 140.00.

Package Contract:
African Days Hunting Safari Package
Value: $7,140.00

This package includes three (3) hunting days for two (2) hunters and two (2) observers, services of a licensed, experienced professional hunter, meals, soft drinks, camp staff, laundry, hunting vehicle, hunting permit and $1,000 credit per hunter towards animals taken. In addition, any taxidermy work contracted with H & H Wildlife Design, Michigan, will receive a 10% discount.

For parties larger than two (2) hunters and two (2) observers, the original buyer may purchase one (1) additional African Days package from WTU at the original bid price. Buyer may not use African Days packages in conjunction or combine them with any other African safari and/or excursion. Additional days and animals can be added to the package by direct negotiation with African Days. There is no discount for less people. Buyer is responsible to contact African Days within six (6) months of the purchase date to schedule a hunt. The hunt must be taken within three (3) years of the purchase date. This package may be transferable at the option of African Days. Buyer must make arrangements directly with African Days for any transfer.

THIS PACKAGE IS NOT REFUNDABLE.

Services not included are airfare, pick-up and return to airport, tax, trophy shipping costs and alcoholic beverages.

Contract Detail:
You will note that we have highlighted some areas in the contract. Here is why:

Email Address (Mandatory):

It is absolutely essential that we have an e-mail address of where to contact you. Because of the time difference between the USA and Africa, telephone communication is almost impossible. I do not want you calling me at 2 o’clock at night (our time) – I am not a pleasant person that time of the night!!

the original buyer may purchase one (1) additional:

We allow buyers to purchase a second package for the same price they paid for the first one. This does not mean you can now combine the package and have six free days – the second package is meant for when you want to bring more than two hunters and two observers.

Buyer may not use African Days packages in conjunction or combine them with any other African safari and/or excursion:

As explained above, you cannot use two packages in conjunction to extend your own free days. We have had buyers trying to use a hunt package and a tour package in conjunction, but this is not possible.

We also do not allow you to combine our packages with other African safaris or excursions. You cannot use our three free days and then take off to do something else elsewhere in Africa.

The above is basically the only conditions we have on these packages – and we do not do this because we want to be difficult. We have to protect ourselves – if we allowed folks to combine things as I explained above, we will be out of business very, very quickly!!

If you are going to use our package to make a trip to Africa possible, we will expect of you to spend your money with us. This is not negotiable.

There is no discount for less people:

By this we mean that you cannot use the value of the package for less people than allowed by the package. For instance, a single hunter cannot use $ 2 000.00 toward trophies taken.

When you purchase a package at auction:

Let’s say you bid on and win one of our packages at a banquet. The money you pay for the package at the banquet goes to Whitetails Unlimited, to help cover their banquet costs as well as to support the many worthwhile programs they launch in your area.

The money does not go to African Days – we have to rely on the buyers to extend on the package, staying longer and shooting more. (See why we do not allow you to combine packages?) This is the ONLY way we are able to continue with this program – and members have been fantastic up to now. Our average booking is for nine days, with the hunters each collecting four to five animals.

How to set up your trip:
Once you have your package in hand, the best way of planning your trip is as follows:

1. Study the web site:
Access our Hunting web site and compile a list of animals you would like to shoot. Forget about the finer details (what to wear, when to come over, shots you will need, etc.) for now – even the money! Simply put your “wishlist” together and let me have it.

This information will allow me to properly advise you on how many days we will need and it becomes easy to pull the money apart and set specific dates for your trip.

2. Costing your trip:
On the web site you will find a Cost Calculator that will assist you in this. Once we have agreed on the length of your trip, use the calculator to play around with costs. Discuss this with us as you go along – we are always flexible and will go to great length to ensure you have a great trip.

As an example:
Let’s assume a nine day booking for two couples, with each hunter shooting a Kudu, a Gemsbok, a Red Hartebeest and a Warthog. Costs per couple will then be as follows:

Day fee calculation:
Days 1 and 9: Arrival and departure days. No day fees. Airport transfer of $350.00 per couple only. = $350.00
Days 2, 3 and 4: No charges. Covered by the hunt package.
Days 5, 6, 7 and 8: Charged at $415.00 per hunter per day and $ 185.00 per observer per day. = $2,400.00
Taxes on the above at 15%. = $412.50
Total day fees per couple = $3,162.50

Trophy fee calculation:
Kudu$1,220.00
Gemsbok$1,220.00
Red Hartebeest$745.00
Warthog$450.00

Trophy sub total$3,635.00
Minus package allowance$1,000.00

Total trophy fees per hunter$2,635.00 (No tax on trophies)

Trip total per couple:
Day fees:$3,162.50
Trophy fees:$2,635.00
Trip total:$5,797.50

3. Excluded from the above:
Services not included are airfare, pick up and return to airport, trophy shipping costs and alcoholic beverages.

4. Deciding on dates:
Everybody in your group should discuss the best dates for the trip. Between you, put together two or three target sets of dates and forward that to me. I will then check on availability and we will go back and forth until we have your final dates set.

5. Booking your flights:
The easiest way of doing this is to let us have the names (as they appear on your passports) and dates of birth of everybody in the group. We will then research the best routes and prices for you and assist in booking the flights.

It is important that you coordinate with us on booking your flights. You might well find flights on the internet that could be a bit cheaper than the flights we quote you on, but be careful – many airports and airlines have problems with guns. We have had a client have his guns confiscated in Amsterdam – massive problem that really screwed up his trip!

We know the best routes with the least problems for hunters – trust us on this one!

Once we have the flights booked and approved by you, we will ask for credit card details and go ahead and issue your tickets.

6. Sightseeing/shopping side trips for observers:
Many of our groups indicate that the observers (mainly wives) are not interested in spending all their time trailing behind the hunters for the whole week. We then book them on their own side trip, with their own guide and vehicle. There are many options and there is a cost implication, so we need to know well in advance if this is what you want to do.

We will discuss the options with you and provide you with a final cost before booking.

7. Combining/Extending trips to include a sightseeing tour:
Adding a couple of days to the hunt trip and then extending your stay to include a few days of touring is problematic. Keep in mind that the hunt and tour is handled by separate guides and we need to make sure that each trip is viable for each guide.

When doing such a combination, we will insist on at least three extra hunting days before adding a sightseeing tour.

8. How to obtain a package:
African Days packages (both for hunting and for touring) are available at all Whitetails Unlimited banquets. If they are not on live or silent auction on a particular night, ask the banquet field director for a package – he will gladly make one available.

Feel free to contact any of the Whitetails Unlimited Field Directors in your area at any time. They will provide you with information re banquets in your area or simply assist you in purchasing a package direct.
